By the workability of concrete is meant that characteristic of concrete in which mixing placing compaction and finishing can be done easily various factors involve for making workability better these include quality of water ratio of concrete characteristic of concrete elements and the nature of work the workability require for one work marquise for one work may not be suitable for others the quality of workability of concrete for big size structure will be different from small structure thin element and such structure in which steel is used need loose concrete its workability is more while concrete of less workability is needed for big structure in which comparatively hard.
To get concrete of maximum strength with ratio of designed concrete it is necessary that there should be minimum voids in the concrete .in addition to this the optimum quantity of water is also necessary. The use of excess water make the workability more but it decreases the of concrete. On the other hand by s the of water the workability of concrete decreases and the strength of concrete increase. Therefore the optimum quantity of water must.
