6 factors affecting workability of concrete

  2. Size aggregates
  3. Grading of aggregate
  4. Shape of aggregate
  5. Texture of aggregate
  6. Ratio of concrete


QUANTITY OF WATER.
The thing most affecting workability is water by increasing the quantity of water workability can be increased but an excess of water makes the strength of concrete less.

SIZE OF AGGREGATES
The more the size of a aggregates used the less is the workability. There will be also a decrease in the strength of the concrete by describing the size of the aggregates.

GRADING OF AGGREGATES
THE BETTER GRADING OF THE AGGREGATES INCREASES THE STRENGTH AS WELL AS ITS workability. The lesser the number of voids and a concrete is the better will b e it a grading the presence of 5%viods and a concrete will be decrease its strength by 30 percent.

SHAPE OF AGGREGATE
The shape of aggregate also affect the workability of concrete the cubic shaped aggregate are considered better. Elongated and flaky shaped aggregate decrease the workability very much the concrete. The strength of such concrete is also lass. The concrete containing rounded aggregates has more workability but the bond becomes very weak.

TEXTURE OF CONCRETE .
Texture of aggregate also affects the workability .porous aggregate require much water for preparing a concrete and at suitable quantity of water its workability will also be less.

RATIO OF CONCRETE
The ratio of fine aggregates and the Corse aggregate also affect workability of concrete. The more the number of fine aggregates in concrete the more will be the workability of the concrete and in the same way the more the quantity of cement in concrete the more will be the workability of concrete.
